The Less Than Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has made their decision regarding the constitutionality of President Obama's health care bill. But apparently we won't know what it is until June. That's the first thing that is wrong.
I have read about some of this Supreme Court's decisions over recent years and I felt increasingly that the decisions were politically based, not based on interpretation of the law. This is a blatant misuse of the absolute power given to these clowns; they are accountable to no one once they make a decision.
And they are hurting this country deeply.
I was watching MSNBC this morning and got turned on to an article written by Maureen Dowd for The New York Times. She points out how politicized the Supreme Court has become and makes the case for how damaging that is for this country.
Consider some recent decisions. In 2000 they ruled that George W. Bush had won the Presidential election. Think that had some consequences?
In 2010 they ruled in favor of Citizens United over the Federal Elections Commission, allowing unrestricted political expenditures by corporations and unions. And the source of these funds does not have to be revealed. This has had a major impact on this election, as fat cats donate heavily to keep idiots like Gingrich and Santorum and Romney alive.
This past Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that strip searches are legal even for minor offenses. Can you even believe that?
And now we all wait with baited breath for their decision on President Obama's health care bill. In the middle of a goddamn election year.
Can you imagine the effect on the President's campaign if his bill is struck down? And can you imagine the injustice done if the decision is made on political motives and not pure interpretation of the law of the land?
I have said it over and over again. This country is moving backwards. Allowing the highest court in the land to become politicized is unforgivable and unacceptable. These people are supposed to be highly intelligent, non partisan guardians of our democracy.
Not petty, partisan puppets.
The trends in this country infuriate me and I am not sure one man can change any of it. Especially when every single card is stacked against him.
If the President is not re-elected it will be a devastating failure of this country and not a failure of President Barack Obama.
