Took A Walk

I walked into that dark alley fully aware. It was pitch black but my vision was clear. Daring evil to approach me I walked confidently ahead. Straight ahead. In my right hand was a paper bag with $4,415 in it. The left held a bottle of Jack Daniels.
Something whispered past my shoulder, I thought I head a throaty growl but I emerged from the alley smiling, into the subdued light of a yellowing street lamp.
A homeless man crouched to my right, shivering against the cold. I handed him the bag, guzzled the last of the Tennessee whiskey and smashed the bottle against the foundation of the Church of The Greater Good.
I laughed out loud and continued walking into the dark. Into the cold.
