BountyGate Is Life, Baby

Life is not what you think it is. Life is never what you want it to be.
Life as a concept exists in textbooks and philosophies. Real life is a lot more cruel, unfair, and calculating. In obvious ways, in secretive ways, in areas where you expect that harshness and in areas where you are surprised.
NFL players were paid to injure other NFL players. Not just to hit them but to injure them. Knock them out of a game, jeopardize their careers. A bonus for knocking them out of a game and an additional bonus if that player got carted off the field.
If you are more than 10 years old you have no right to be surprised at this. Life is overwhelmingly unfair. Job interviews, the comfort of expecting your home to increase in value, an expectation of a dignified retirement, fair treatment from banks, credit card companies and especially mortgage companies, fair treatment from your employer, proper representation from your politicians, equal treatment from the medical community regardless of wealth or the lack thereof, equal opportunity at a successful life in general, I could go on and on and on. None of these things are real.
They all exist as concepts one one level, but in reality there is something much more sinister going on. Behind the scenes interests and manipulations that rig the game against you.
I think bounty hunting in the NFL royally sucks but it doesn't surprise me and has probably been going on forever. I'm sure it exists in the NHL as well. Baseball players are still looking for ways to drug enhance. Basketball players are elite fools so far removed from their fan base that they treat them with contempt while pretending that its all about the fans.
We want sports to be pure but they are every bit as evil as everything else you deal with in life.
Brett Favre got pummelled by the Saints in the 2009 NFC championship game. I remember that game. He was viciously beaten. He had a bounty on his head. Knowing that, he recently commented:"I'm not pissed. Its football. I don't think anything less of those guys."
Charles Barkley thinks the "snitch" that exposed Bountygate is a coward. "You have to be a punk to snitch that out." "But I've seen at least three or four well known NFL players say all teams have bounties. So I'm glad they came to Gregg Williams defense. Because I'm pretty sure all teams have that."
Idiots.
That point of view condones bounty hunting. Everybody does it. Its part of the game. This coming from two guys who got rich playing their game and are well acquainted with whatever illegal things go on behind the scenes. And even in retirement refuse to place blame.
The curtain is being ripped away in every facet of life, and the little man behind that curtain is the diabolical opposite of the harmless Wizard himself. Political scandals, financial scandals, professional sports scandals, Olympic scandals, sex scandals. It seems like the frequency of these revelations is increasing and the scope of the  transgressions is getting wider.
Most people wander around life in a daze because they cannot believe the hand they have been dealt. They are confused, beat down, depressed and self medicated. And they have nowhere to turn for relief.
Once you realize that every angle of the hidden layer of life is designed to defeat you, and that the power behind these manipulations is so large you could never stand a chance in fighting back, you become permanently bewildered.
You turn to things like sports to distract you, to give you a sense of belonging or to experience fleeting joy. Then you get smacked in the face with more evidence that life as a concept does not exist. Never has. Never will.
Poison flows through life like the blood through your veins.
The best you can do is hunker down with your family. If you are lucky they are real.
If not you are screwed.
