The Race
The race is harder than arithmetic.
Some'll say it can't be won.
It gets harder when your shoes are slick.
But I had set my mind to run.
It was harder than I'd bargained for.
Broken dreams at every turn.
I had heart enough to almost make it through.
And a lesson left to learn.
I slipped and fell before the finish line,
just when it seemed I couldn't lose.
I can fall any time you want me to.
You are the shit beneath my shoes.
